| Description | Come join the 5K stroll across the Benjamin Franklin Bridge for the first-ever Founding Father’s Day Stroll. Meet our Founding Father, Thomas Jefferson, learn about his love of exercise, and take your picture with him. Bring your cameras to preserve your incredible experience just as you are helping to preserve our National Treasures with every step you take. The entire walk is 3.35 miles if you cross all the way to New Jersey and back. For those who are interested in a shorter distance, there are areas along the span of the bridge for turning around. After the bridge, come back to the National Constitution Lawn where you, your family and friends will have the opportunity to have your picture taken on the mall with Independence Hall behind you, which will be available for free download on the Friends of Independence’s website after the event. So whether you walk it, jog it or take a stroll, every step you take helps the Friends of Independence save our National Treasures and preserve your national park. We welcome you to bring children and pets to this event. However, while children, accompanied by an adult are allowed to walk across the bridge, pets are not allowed on the walkways. The surfaces of the walkways can be unsafe for animal paws so they will have to remain on ground level. Cost: $15 (Adult) $10 (Child 6-14) $5 (Additional Child 6-14) FREE! (Child under 5) Children 5 years or younger are free to participate but will not receive a t-shirt. All children must be accompanied by an adult |
